Grand Port
The historical district of Grand Port encompasses much of the south-eastern side of the island. Its name is taken from the old Grand Port which was home to the original Dutch settlers on the island. It’s one of our favourite locales in Mauritius - it offers breathtaking scenery with rigid mountains and dense green forestry, as well as picture perfect white sand beaches that are just as perfect for families as they are for honeymooners.
