Seychelles Travel Guide: Explore Cities & Culture

The Seychelles offers a stunning cocktail of luxury, perfection and serenity - spread across some 115 islands - each with its own personality - some inhabited, many not. It is an island-hoppers paradise located in a bed of heavenly blue just beneath the equator to the northeast of Madagascar. The main island of the Seychelles is Mahé - home to the country’s capital, Victoria, and a gorgeous topography of mountains, private bays, rugged national parks and pristine sandy beaches such as Beau Vallon and Anse Takamaka. You’ll find the country’s largest selection of resorts here as well as some of the best hiking routes on the archipelago, particularly at the lush Morne Seychellois National Park. If you’re hoping to do some diving then Mahé is a good option too - with whale sharks and gloriously transparent waters to indulge in all along the west coast. If you’re staying in Victoria then be sure to visit the pretty St. Paul's Cathedral, the vibrant Sir Selwyn Selwyn Clarke Market and the islands of Thérèse and Conception which are easy to explore with a day trip from the capital. Take a glass bottomed boat to add a little more magic to the journey. Alternatively take a trip to the nearby St. Anne Island which is home to the largest marine park in the Seychelles and hike 250m to its highest peak for breathtaking views of Mahé and the rest of the islands.
