Biblical Sites in Jordan
The entire country is dotted with sites of religious importance, many of them located in the Jordan Valley. Mount Nebo, for example is where Moses climbed to view the Promised Land; Muawir is the site of King Herod’s Palace and where John the Baptist was beheaded, while “Bethany Beyond the Jordan” is situated on the eastern bank of the River Jordan and is said to be the site where Jesus was baptised by John.
